The City of Hernando Parks & Recreation Department Join’s National Initiative to

Make Communities Safe

 The City of Hernando, Parks & Recreation Department has joined Operation TLC2 Making Communities Safe, a national initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association in partnership with Southeastern Security Consultants, Inc., a firm dedicated to thorough background checks and training consulting, TSS photography, a firm specializing in quality photography and DMP Consulting, a company with more than 30 years experience in parks and recreation to enhance volunteer management and ensuring public safety. 

 Operation TLC2 Making Communities Safe, is a set of national recommendations and resources to improve volunteer management practices in parks and recreation including:

·         Techniques to attract the best volunteers

·         Recommendations to qualify volunteers through comprehensive background screening

·         How to credential volunteers through photo identification

·         Tools to train volunteers and staff to maximize the quality of services and the volunteer experience.

 

“Ensuring the public safety in Hernando Park settings and programs is critical.  Operation TLC2 Making Communities Safe provides us the tools and resources to assist in providing the best equipped volunteers and gives us national recommendations to follow on volunteer management,” according to Dewayne Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Hernando.
